Adur Elders

We are looking to engage a small group of Adur community members who were born around 1940 or earlier and have memories of the river Adur from the pre-1950s onward. As we explore a recovery strategy for the river with our land managers, we want to capture community memories and knowledge of the river over the last 50 years to illustrate changes over time. We are interested in social and commercial uses, physical changes to the river and its accessibility, views and aesthetics across the landscape, and reflections on the losses or gains in wildlife and biodiversity.

Interviews can be carried out in person, over the phone, or received as a letter or email. Reflections can be anonymized if need be. We also welcome photos or clippings and can arrange to photograph any items that relate to those river’s history. If community groups have data or research that was collected at the time, we would love to hear from them too.
